What is cyber security? (Part 3) – IT Support Episode 145

So this week I’m covering the topic of cyber essentials. Now, this is only relevant if you are in the UK. This is a UK government initiative to protect your data, your business and third-party information. There are a number of industries which are now starting to require it and most insurance providers are stipulating, for their cyber security cover, you have to have cyber essentials in place. It’s an annual certification and it encourages good practice with making sure you administer your computer system in a good way. You don’t open doors unnecessarily and you don’t give users administration level access if they don’t need it. And as part of this certification, you also get cyber protection insurance included. So whether you’re in a regulated industry that requires it, making sure you’ve got this certification in place to make sure your insurance will pay out, in the event of a cyber breach – or whether you want to encourage good practice to make sure that you have it in place to protect your business. If you’ve got any questions, comment below. If you’re one of our clients, or someone who is interested in being one of our clients, you can even look on our website or drop me a line.
