“Doing IT Yourself” – IT Support Episode 83
This week I’m talking about doing it yourself.
So, do you do it yourself?
No not that.
I’m talking about buying your own computer hardware, whether it’s laptops, desktops, servers, networking equipment or in this case, the episode that’s inspired by Tomas.
So Tomas told me that he’d bought himself a new printer proudly shopping on, you know, that big online retailer who will remain nameless for now, he thought that there was no point in bothering me just for a little printer for his home office. I believe he said he spent about an hour deciding which one to order but it arrived and wasn’t really what he wanted.
Thankfully they’ve got a great return system so off it went and then he called me.
After asking him a few basic questions, I selected a printer for him and he proudly unpacked it and told me how easy it was to set up and he even can print from his iPhone and his iPad which he wasn’t expecting to be able to do.
Job done!
So many of you, are so keen on shopping online looking for your own solution and quite often what happens you’re looking for something like this a well-engineered sports car to do your job properly and what do you end up with, a cheap little run around.
Yes it will get you there, but will it work at the speed and performance you want or run in an efficient way. Us IT companies may not always be the cheapest let’s face it, you pay for the knowledge and experience, we can save you time, we can take ownership of that purchase and make sure you get what you need.
So until next time…
